Interns Tannis, Noah, and Katy, along with Drs. Williams, Conroy-Ben, and Muenich visited the Gilbert Riparian Preserve last week to sample from their groundwater recharge ponds. It was also a great lesson in soils and sampling techniques!

The Preserve was established as a way to help recharge the groundwater with wastewater, while creating educational and recreational opportunities to the community. Student interns will be evaluating the change in microbial communities across a transect of one of the ponds.
